Measuring up the size of new shoots

Post by stevelau1911 »

This year, everything seems to be bigger to some extent, but nothing that crazy. I like to water them every few days around this time of the year to hopefully give the shoots a boost of energy, and I also sprinkle some milorganite around the shoots.

Spectabilis 0.30 from last year to 0.60 this year.

Nigra 0.35 last year to 0.55 this year.

Propinqua beijing 0.65 last year to 0.75 this year, but shoots are not fully grown in diameter yet.

Dulcis 0.95 last year to 1.10 this year with 1 shoot still barely poking out that might be bigger

Parvifolia 0.9 last year, and many shoots appear to be at the 1 inch mark this year, but this species also tends to gain quite a bit in diameter as the shoot rises up a little more so I still can't determine their size, but they are clearly many of them bigger than the largest from last year from what I see so far.
