Bamboo Ban Tops Suggestion List
Planting bamboo is a crime? Just thought the forum would find this article interesting.

Interesting? Makes me want to put my head in an oven.
RE: Bamboo Ban
special quotes from the article........
Considering this is a southern location where clumping bamboo can grow, I would think the idiots could make a distinction between the two general different growing types of boo.
Ban running bamboo? Maybe a good idea in certain locations.
But, ban all bamboo? Sounds like a bunch fools in the making.
"Bamboo that clumps!?? Well your mom is so big that she uses moso culms for toothpicks." Or something of that nature.
“Bamboo's a nightmare,” she said.
“It's so invasive and grows like a weed,” Baker said, adding that several other cities already have banned bamboo.

If I was part of their little meeting, you can bet they'd be passing around the ibuprofen.
....and then I'd raise my voice
Does anybody know someone out there that could open up a can of whoop$*@!
I would feel sorry for anyone who lived in one of those areas. Once something has been passed, it's a pain to get it overturned/ammended.

And not only can you not have your bamboo, all fences must be see-through. Looks like someone has a major case of busy body syndrome.
Yeah, my hew Fargesia 'Scabrida' is in real danger of becoming an oppressively tall, eat-you-alive plant.
You know, this may be the educational tool we need. We need to start the bamboo freedom campaign! Identify those communities in jeopardy, find people and institutions within them who are intelligent and garden-loving enough to know how ludicrous such a no holds barred ban actually is. Give them divisions of tamer bamboos if we have them and they'll take them and get them to fight this crap on a local level. I wonder if it really IS a no holds barred ban, or if it is only being reported that way by an ignorant reporter now growing his dracaena in the closet.

Neighborhood covenants guarantee that only one type of mindset will be attracted to live in such a community.
The solution is to form neighborhoods where everyone is REQUIRED to have at least one 'boo...

RE: Bamboo Ban
There was a note on my door this morning inviting me to an organizational meeting for a neighborhood association. This does not bode well.
My previous experience with people who don't understand a subject and make critical decisions is that they thoroughly screw things up, strike a heroic pose, announce that they've done what they set out to do and that their job here is done. Then they leave quickly, sticking someone else with the mess.
Hmmm...I guess I should show up to make sure they don't do anything too stupid. (Is there an emoticon for *sigh*?)

Southern Indiana.
My Bamboo List.
The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

RE: Bamboo Ban
sometimes people can be so ignorant about certain things. Especially when they speak. Educate, educate and educate......the funny thing is most of the people in those positions have more education than most....go figure. they obviously are studying the wrong thing.
