I don't have to worry about deers, but rather the smallest of the creatures in my yard. e.g. Slugs, grasshoppers, beetles, and pill bugs. These small guys probably wouldn't cross your mind but they can be problematic for small bamboo plantings with tiny soft shoots. My Nuda was finished off this way. After drowning and top killed over the winter, it put up its last tiny shoots last month and they were chewed down by who knows what.

But, my Rubro is looking great this year, and possibly my largest bamboo grove...
