Re: Planting some more fruit trees

It is getting close to the time to prune the bigger fruit trees. By some time in September, or whenever I harvest the fruits, I will unload some of the flowering branches ensure the the fruit size is decent, and take down some of the super long branches just to make sure the fruits don't end up weighing so much that they can break the branches during a wind storm.

I like to try and get all my fruit trees to produce fruits from 5 1/2-12ft off the ground so they can avoid the deer, but not get so high so that it will be a challenge to get to them. It also seems important to make sure they don't get so thick to there point where insects and fungus can become a major problem. Fruits also seem to ripen better when they are physically exposed to some sunshine.
