Last summer I rooted cuttings from my Grandmothers hydrangea bush. Her hydrangea is planted in native soil & bright blue. My cuttings are in miracle grow soil and the one that bloomed this year is bright pink! Amazing how soil PH and aluminum changes the color.

JWH - That is a fantastic pinky red almost! Impressive.

We're so acidic here they range from almost black to sky blue and everything in between. Need to dose them with lime to get any pink at all.

I was combing the nearby graveyard today to photo the 100 y/o rhodos (English ironclads) - they never have had any mulch, fertilizer or care since I was a kid. Only the grass nearby has been mowed.

Cornus kousa 'Satomi'

Always a show stopper. Searing heat with humidity yesterday, chilly today. Picked up a P. bissetii today in the Valley.

I started Sunflowers as early as possible this year. Usually I procrastinate or forget to plant them until may/june. Not this year!
