I would love to grow a mume tree but my place is perhaps one or two zones too cold.
There're a few hybrids such as Prunus Mume 'Bungo' that could possibly survive in zone 5, but I don't have a source in Canada to purchase from. I think prunus trees are also restricted and may require some sort of permit to import into Canada. However, I am hoping to come across some prunus mume fruits in supermarkets, so I can grow them from seed, albeit a very slow process.
FYI, prunus mume trees are grown primarily for their blooms (and scent) in early Spring rather than for their fruits.
Anyone growing Prunus Mume?

Re: Anyone growing Prunus Mume?
pokenei - I have a few friends in BC that grow Prunus mume and good forms at that. I don't think we can even get Prunus spp. out of BC to the rest of Canada. What a sensational flower though.
