Re: Black (Phy. Nigra) Bamboo blooming, what to do?
Did they set seeds? Are there only a few viable seeds, and most of the flowers give empty or non-developed seeds?
I have asked a few people here if their Phyllostachys nigras are flowering and they are not. It might be an overture into flowering?

ShmuBamboo. Is it possible there were birds eating ripening seeds? I have unimaginable numbers of birds inside my bamboo and they could (would) easily decimate the seeds. Sparrows are the worst. Whole grove is ...

Re: Black (Phy. Nigra) Bamboo blooming, what to do?
Interesting. I’m in Australia and I posted a few months ago about some I’d seen on the roadside here flowering. I wondered if it meant it would flower in other parts of the world. I collected seeds but couldn’t get them to grow. I notice now the entire clump has died.

Yes the seeds were long and thin with pointy tip . Ive ordered new dendrocalamus strictus seeds from different buyer, these are shorter and more roundish.

Re: Bamboo ID ?
I'd say Phyllostachys pubescens. Do you have a photo of actual seeds you've got? Were they long and thin with pointy end and a grain inside?
