Re: Cold Thur night
... F | 16° F I sure do love winter.. :blackeye: Then again... our low temp so far for winter would be that 16º F; I'm thinking we may be adjusted to 7b due to a lack 0º to 5º F weather we used to get. Anyone know when the new USDA hardiness map comes out? M

Sounds somewhat like Tennessee weather- perhaps a little cooler in the summer than we are, and we are colder in the winter. We are 6b/7a here in middle Tennessee, so I'm going with 7b for your area.

Re: Growing Bamboo in the Columbia Rive Gorge
... be that White Salmon is in zone 7. White Salmon is just inside Klickitat Co, and according to the WA state USDA zone map, is between zone 7a and 7b. It definately gets colder out there in the gorge. The gorge drains the great basin and that air is usually cold in winter.

RE: Zone 7a / borderline 7b will Moso do well here
I'm counting on it growing for you, since I'm growing it in a slightly colder area! There's a nice grove in a good microclimate at the national arboretum, probably quite similiar to your winter lows; I've posted photos at http://www.bambooweb.info/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1645 . As for sticking to just 3,...
